“HANA GIRLS” will be ON TRACK TO BEAT CANCER

If you care to participate or encourage people to come out, it’s all for a worthwhile cause.

This event has nothing to do with the boycott.

Four girls representing Horseplayers Association of North America (HANA) will join Bo Derek with banners and signs in a historic walk down the stretch to the winners circle at Santa Anita. Pictures and cameras welcome.

You need not be on track to participate… The details;

GET ON TRACK TO BEAT CANCER
TAKE A WALK DOWN THE HISTORIC SANTA ANITA STRETCH
Sunday, April 17th immediately after the last race

Racing fans, here’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to do make a difference AND make history. Santa Anita Park invites you to get ON TRACK TO BEAT CANCER and support the Women’s Cancers, Women’s Cures program at City of Hope. Join jockeys, trainers and celebrities on track. And, when we say ON TRACK, we mean on track.

Here’s how it works. Following the last race on closing day, Sunday, April 17th, you, your family and your friends can take a quarter mile walk down the Santa Anita stretch and exit through the winner’s circle; the same stretch and winner’s circle that hosted Zenyatta, John Henry, Seabiscuit and every champion in between. Raise your banners, bring your cameras, shoot video, get autographs, run like a racehorse, shout out loud and proudly honor those who have been affected by cancer. We’ve all been touched by cancer. Make this a walk in memory of the ones you love and those who love thoroughbred racing.
Here’s all you need to do: Donate $10 (or greater) to City of Hope, nationally renowned comprehensive cancer center, on closing day at Santa Anita and you’ll receive a wristband granting you access to the track after the last race. Come early to watch some races, join in on the fun, food and inspiration and visit the interactive City of Hope wellness center in the infield, where you can learn more about Women’s Cancers, Women’s Cures, register to become a bone marrow donor and get tips on cancer prevention. City of Hope will be in the infield all day to answer questions and provide useful information.
The official color of City of Hope’s Women’s Cures, Women’s Cancers program is purple to represent all women’s cancers – breast and and gynecologic. We encourage you to wear purple or purchase the official ON TRACK TO BEAT CANCER purple t-shirt bearing the official event logo. Its only $10 at the track and sales proceeds go to City of Hope to support cancer research, treatment, and education.

Mark down the date: Sunday, April 17th, closing day of the meet. Let’s get ON TRACK TO BEAT CANCER. Take the Walk and help find a cure. For more information, visit www.santaanita.com or call 626 574 6384.

Sign on for the special $20 Prepaid Bonus Package: Your on-line $20 package includes general admission to the track ($5), $10 donation for ON TRACK TO BEAT CANCER and $10 official t-shirt. $10 from this special package will go to City of Hope as well.

Special packages for large donations available including official t-shirts, a salute on the infield screen, a programed race in your honor and a gourmet VIP buffet lunch in the Santa Anita infield.

All proceeds go to the City of Hope and their Women’s Cancer, Women’s Cures program.

These girls have volunteered to be on track to beat cancer, april 17th and take the historic walk down the stretch at Santa Anita to the winners circle. They will be waving signs of City of Hope, Santa Anita and HANA and wearing a HANA sash over the top.

There will be plenty of pictures and stuff of the walk itself after it is over.. This is not about the girls,(they understand)it is to raise money for the the City of Hope, and represent HANA but, they do add interest.

One is a former member of the TOC and all love the horses and eager to participate..

Quote from Vic Stauffer :

Gonna be very cool. We'll start in the paddock. Walk through the tunnel onto the homestretch at fabled Santa Anita. Up to the 1/8th pole where the starting gate will be sitting. Great photo ops!! Back down the same stretch where Zenyatta passed all the boys in the 2009 Classic and right into the winners circle!

Leading the way will be Carla Gaines, Bo Derek, Chantal Sutherland and other first ladys of racing. Many jockeys and trainers will be there too and lagging at the back of the pack will be Trevor and I. If you'd like to walk along with us we'll both be happy to sign autographs, take pictures or just talk racing.
