Malak Uswaad N

Malak Uswaad N is entered in the $50,000 open at Chester on Sunday, facing WWS, Meirs, Special T Rocks and company. The four-year-old Bettor’s Delight horse won nine races and $72,000 Down Under and was exported to the states after winning at Addington on December 31. He’s out of The Big Dog mare, Sirius Flight. His second dam is the very good Pacific Flight N., a winner of a half-million dollars.

Tetrick has driven him in his three US starts at Harrahs.

On June 21 he was 6-1 in the ML against nw9,500 and came three-deep off cover into the last turn to win easily in 50.3. He went off at 9-5.

On July 1 he was 4-1 in the ML against nw18K and went off at 3-5. He challenged the leader, Shoobee’s Place, past the half and went nose to nose with that one until mid-stretch when he pulled ahead. The mile went in 50.

In his most recent start, on July 15, he was 1-5 (8-5 ML) against nw18K and came from way off at the top of the stretch to run down Abelard Hanover in 51.2.

One to watch.

Malak Uswaad upset 1-5 favorite We Will See in the open at Chester yesterday. The 8-1 shot followed WWS out at the half as the pacesetter, Meirs Hanover, took them up the back in 26.4. They came home in 27.2 for a 50.1 mile. Malak (TT) rolled off cover and down the middle for the win. Meirs (9-2) was second for YG, followed by Rockincam (23-1) and WWS. Malak paid $19.60.

This Malak horse raced Sunday at the artist formerly known as Chester and was super in defeat, he battled in super fast fractions and just got beat at the end of the mile.

Everyone makes a big deal when a horse does a sub 1:20 to the 3/4. I wonder how many people realized Malak Uswaad N did a final 3/4 of 1:19.4 at the Meadowlands on Hambo day. Sunday was the first time the horse showed speed. Very versatile showing he can come off a helmet as well as stick it out on the lead. Only 4 years old I believe too. The more the merrier; this older pacing division needs some fresh, new, and competitive faces!
