No update yet on Giant Ryan. They put a splint on left front leg and was vanned off. Doesn't look good though

Something happened, jock tried to ease/pull him up in the stretch, and then he went down. DRF feed says it was left foreleg. No status update yet after vanning off..

Shame. Bad breakdown in front of the crowd. I have watched Giant Ryan since his first race. Hope he ends up ok.

Just read this on twitter:Giant Ryan broke down in the True North but was not euthanized. He has a fractured sesamoid and ligament damage. Is comfortable in a splint.

I didn't think he was going to go down. In fact I didn't think he did.
He was hobbling while on the lead and all out ........sad. He went down as a warrior that's for sure. Let's hope they can save him.

I didn't think he did either until NBC showed a head-on shot after the winner crossed the wire.. Giant Ryan could clearly be seen struggling on the ground and the jock was getting up..

The Doc on the track said he was comfortable in the splint. The NBC reporter asked point blank if the injury was life threatening, and the answer was "it could be".

Board member Gate to Wire tweeted that he broke down right in front of him and it looked pretty bad.
