What you do is use a dummy PW that is the same basic format to see how secure that format it, ie, type in password, then type in PassWord, then try PassWord!.....etc. Then substitute your real basic password idea in that format.
password = .00217 seconds to crack
PassWord = .545 seconds
PassWord! = 39.06 minutes
PassWord!234 = 1.74 centuries

I made one up and got to 15.7 centuries. I assume that is pretty good.

it was 15 spaces and I just type in and equal amount of small letters, caps, and 5 different symbols, 3 different numbers.
my understanding was you end up with (26*26*22*10)^15
if you used 20 spaces then that power would go up to 20 and etc.
the 22 is the number of symbols you can use, but that number might be wrong. I just counted the ones on my keyboard.
the key is how long is the password, but I am just guessing.
I played with it awhile before I got to that high a number. so it could be just blind luck because it was a random password.
