Actions speak louder than words. Take your money to the windows at Hastings!
I encourage all serious horse players to spend a few bucks on Hastings this weekend.
When so many other jurisdictions have ignored the horse player, Hastings has stepped up to the plate to not only lower takeout, but make free PPs available to all horse players on their website. They also (as they have for the last 100 years) still run on real dirt.
I would encourage everyone to support the WPS pools and the Pick 4 and New Pick 5 wagers at 15%.
Vote with your dollars, lets hope we can show other tracks around North America that lower take out will result in increased handle.

What he said.
The P5 starts in race 4 and the P4 starts in race 5.
Here's field size for those races after scratches, and they're all 6F dirt races.
4-10
5-9
6-9
7-8
8-8

It was hit for 20 cents, so the 22k is a bit misleading. The other thing is Equibase doesn't show the Pick 5 payoff or pool for some reason.

From Equibase
Hastings Park April 24th 2010 - 9 Races
Track Handle $233,230
Off Track $373,575
Total $606,805
Hastings Park April 16th 2011 - 8 Races
Track Handle $192,536
Off Track $250,037
Total $442,573
Down $164,232 or about 28%
Not off to a great start, it was not that long ago that they handled a million on Wednesday nights.

They were up against it this Saturday figure may be discounted...Imagine they battled vs ARK. Derby, Bluegrass Stakes, Charlestown $Million, etc, etc....they should do better during weekday events!

And in some ways, those Million dollar Wednesday nights seem so long ago....

Hastings
I'm betting it today, looks like a nice, scenic track.

Numbers were a little bit better today.
On Track $109,667
Off Track $421,862
Total $531,529
At least the Off Track players "showed up" today.

Canceling for lack of entries on a Friday isn't going to help much either.

i think that most big bettors today could care less what the takeout is, they care about what the size of the pools are and how much their rebate is.
