Don Powley

I rarely venture of here from the harness forum.

Might anybody be aware of, or provide some suggestions as to locating background/bio on this former jockey?

I've located the following 1948 reference on the web:
"Trainer James Y Pyle yesterday purchased from Charles Camac the contract of Don Powley the promising apprentice rider currently campaigning at Garden State Park"
end of quote

Powley was born in 1920 and lived until 2000.

Making Powley 28YO in 1948 and IMO, a bit old for a "bug boy".

There are also a couple of other references were he rode in NJ during the 1948-1950 years, however nothing significant.

The family genealogist has determined that Powley (actual name Donald Smith Powley) is a distant cousin (great-grandson of a great-great Aunt).

Thanks in advance
