Seth mentioned to me on Saturday that he didn't do the report for last year because he wasn't sure how "true" the odds were, but that he would in fact revisit 2008.

In 2008 there was one $75 winner.
I have no idea what he means by "true" odds, but I went by the results charts.
There were 51 horses that went off 20 to 1 or more.
$5100 bet
$3750 returned
$1350 lost

so over 2 years it would have been a $2,170 profit for wagering $9,600.
Not for me.
When I get in the mood to blow money blindly, (which I don't) I'd do a search, on a rainy day, of all horses with the word storm, stormy, slop, etc. in their names. Another day, I'd do all horses with word gold, golden, goldie, etc.
Done it on paper, made a profit both times.
$9600 is too rich to "dispense with handicapping" for me, though.

He won't answer, but is Bob Selvin serious with this garbage
If I were Jeff Siegal I would part ways pronto.
Seems like we hear from him every time a big day rolls around.
Darn shame there's a lack of rope a dopes around here. Then again....
Our site of redboardingsuckers.com had post position 2 as the winning flavor.
Check out our SuperDuper Results:
29.80, 44.60, 3.80 or $78.20 for $20 bet.
Think of what you could do with that money!!
See ya next year. (two days later)

Comprehensively through the history of BC (1984-2009)
There have been a grand total of 848 Breeder's Cup starters at 20/1 or higher.
A blind $2 win bet on all 848 would cost $1,696.
The return is $1,854.10...a profit of $158.10. Not quite 10%. I trust most handicappers making $2 win bets on 848 Breeder's Cup starters of their choice would fare worse and I would place myself at the top of that list.
Unfortunately, the plays of 20/1 or higher are not broke down by field size.
Perhaps it be reasonable to assume that if you limited your plays at 20/1 or higher to the bigger fields sizes that you would enhance the profit potential ?
It would be interesting to find out if there is a correlation with field size.
