Al Martino R.I.P.

Singer Al Martino passed away Tuesday at his Springfield,Pennsylvania home.He was 82.Many on this forum will not recall his work, but starting in the 1950's he had several hits, including "Here in My Heart","Spanish Eyes","Cant Help Falling in Love",and "Volare".He had a small part in the classic film "The Godfather",playing Johnny Fontane. He also sang the films title score, the haunting "Love Theme from the Godfather".

My friend long ago who had to play gigs at the upstate NY resorts would get tired of the singers who liked to sing "Volare," but I thought Martino had the smoothest voice of all of them. Now I want to go to youtube and hear him croon away.
