Contest proposal

I'm trying to get some widespread interest, so here is how I would like to proceed.

You pick 5 races, any tracks you like, any type race, any day of the week. This way no circuit is excluded, but it is certainly do-able for the weekend player.

Here is my format:

Like the PA contest, you pick 2 horses per race, with 2 alternates to be used ONLY in the event of a scratch. You score $ for picking the winner 1st, or hitting the exacta, straight or boxed. If you hit it straight, you get the $2 price, reverse, you get the $1 price. Thinking maybe a 10 week contest.

Here's an example:

Result of race 1-10.40 2 runs 2nd 1-2 exacta $35

If someone picks the 1 but not the exacta, they get 10.40
If someone picks the 1 and the 2 second, they get $45.40
If someone picks it in reverse, 2-1, they get $17.50.

Pretty simple and easy for me to score. A week will start on Monday and end on Sunday. I will allow someone to miss one week of picks, but if you miss two weeks, you are out.

Let me know what you all think, I would like to start this next Monday!

Here's an idea. How about we all go to the track together with $500 and see who walks away with the most money.

Craig – couple of considerations after a little vino

Who over–sees that someone for example isn’t posting his or her selections some Wednesday afternoon or Sunday evening after the 1st quarter is run? If you think an honor system can work that’s fine with me.

10-week contest takes us to the end of July, may interfere with summer vacation? 8 weeks might work better for some.

I like this format but I also think Tee’s proposal is intriguing where the 1st ranking vs. 32nd ranking double elimination might be fun. Instead of having a qualifying round to determine rankings we would be assigned a number based on the time of our entry into the contest. For example you could be number 1 and the last person in draws you and so forth.

Who is invited to this contest?

Is this contest open to everyone or are there restrictions?

Lure:

Open to anyone and everyone.

keilan:

Simple solution, posts must be made 5 MTP, easy to tell with the PA time stamp.

As for Tee's idea, I like it, lets see how many want in first.

IMHO, the each category should count evenly...in the PA contest about 85% of the weight was put on the P3 w/ about 8% weight on the win.

Idea:
$3 win
$2 straight exacta
$1 on revers exacta

Therefore 50% of the weight is put on the win and 50% on the exacta for equal distribution of wagers.

Bumping this to the top...is there any more interest?

I like your idea GR1, I would implement that. Is anyone else interested? Need to know soon, or I'm not going to waste my time.

Sounds good. I'm in. See if PA will give us a forum.

If you build it....They will come. Whatver you do will not please everyone.........Question? Scoring? You gonna do it? No way we could get someone to lighten the load? Because the scoring of the PIk4 contest is a 5 year contract that we have you locked into.

or is it something you want to do? or are just willing to do?
