I've found AVG to be just a little bit in the flaky side.

I've had some bizarre problems with it blocking access to my server, even though all of the program settings have been set. When I've had this problem and others, I have ended up downloading whatever is posted on the web site, uninstalling the current version then installing what I downloaded.

And all of this happens on just one of my systems that I run AVG on. I haven't figured it out and the one time I pursued it with AVG support, they results of my efforts to get them data did not result in any explanation.

You may have a major problem based on a google search of this statement "missing avgui.exe file"

the last two laptops i bought had McAfee on it and when i deleted it and put AVG, i've had problems getting Internet Explorer to work. I found out just using Add/Remove does not get rid of McAfee, here's what i did

McAfee Cleanup
a. Right-click on the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop,
do not select the RUN option:
http://download.mcafee.com/products/...tches/MCPR.exe

b. once downloaded select Run and then you can delete after it's run

this will remove anything left of McAfee
