So which trainers were idiotic enough to offer up their horses for this stunt?

Probably the trainer who thought their horses would ignore their training and only want to go 1/16 mile! Tells me how little people outside rsacing (ESPN and local media) know about racing; and how little some inside racing know about racing.
The outriders were the only smart ones!

Hawthorne promotion manager Dakota Shultz said this was the first time the track had used amateurs, and it ''probably will be the last time.''
Does it worry anyone else that they said "probably will be the last time" when describing whether they'd try this again sometime?

Teinowitz probably pushes 280 - 300 lbs and his competitor Jurkovic used to play DL for the Packers.

Incredulous!

You know, that was actually a really good idea, in principal, they should have just changed one simple thing.

Not use real racehorses.

They could have just as easily used some well-tempered ponies, and put the racehorse saddle cloth and saddle on, 95% of people wouldn't of known the difference.

Yeah, when I read about the promo, I didn't think they these guys would actually be riding real horses. Heck, I wasn't certain Harry wouldn't have a breakdown in a stick-pony race!

Father wears his Sunday best
Mother's tired she needs a rest
The kids are playing up downstairs
Sister's sighing in her sleep
Brother's got a date to keep
He can't hang around
