On Friday, my soft wager in the 7th, Straight Laced wired the field and paid $9.20 to win and my $8 saver exacta box in that race returned $65.40. With the exception of the 9th and 10th, my contenders only selections were right on all day, but nothing clicked. So it goes...

Saturday's selections:

1st - Contenders Only - Trifectas 6/1/7,8,9

2nd - Contenders Only - Spikevellian (2). Spike is notorious for the sudden wake up and it looks like its time. Ningbo (3) was very close to par in last, switches to 2% rider with no wins at TAM and adds 4 lbs.??? Exacta Box 2,9 and Trifectas 2/1,5,6,8/9

3rd - Contenders Only - Trifectas 4/9/All

4th - A prime wager, Regwell (9). Huge effort in last with a fig of 77 (today's par is 66) while gaining late at 6F against Thiscatcanscat. Both were entered for $5000 for the first time. Ness/Allen team is 12-17 ITM. Win, Exacta Box 5,9 and Trifectas 9/2,3,8,11/5

5th - Contenders Only - Exacta Box 2,3 and Trifectas 2,3/5,7,8,9/2,3

6th - Contenders Only - Exacta Key Box 7/3,4

7th - A prime wager, American Border (4). Won 4 of last 5 including a graded stakes at MED. Has the distinction of being the only mare in the race with sub-12 final fractions (with an amazing 11.36 in last). Servis knows his way around Tampa and has found a great spot. Centeno gets the call. Win.

8th - Contenders Only - Exacta Key Box 7/5,8

9th - A prime wager, Otis Ridge (6). Once in a while the racing secretary sends you a gift. Last year it was Moment of Song (Jan. 29th, 7th race). This year its Otis Ridge. The starter condition lobs us a softball and we respond by knocking it out of the park. Always above par. Always the favorite. The class of the race. ITM 10 of 12 last year (talk about a late bloomer). Has been working great for Ziadie. RoHo gets the call. Win. Trifectas 6/8,10/5 and 6/5,8,10/1,3

10th - Contenders Only - Exacta Box 6,11 and Trifectas 6,11/1,4,7,8/6,11

11th - Contenders Only - Exacta Box 2,7 and Trifectas 2,7/6/2,7
