Mark Guidry

Mark Guidry wins his first race with as a trainer tonight with Chief Four Shoes at Evangeline Downs in a CL4k. He paid $12.60 to win under an excellent ride by Billy Charles Patin.

Good luck Mark!

I can remember betting on a horse he was riding at Delta Downs about 30 years ago. He wasn't 20 yet, but he was already as good anybody at that track, which he should have been, since he'd already had 10 years experience riding at the bush tracks (four, I believe, at parimutuel tracks). If I remember, correctly, he won nine riding titles at Sportsman's and another seven at Hawthorne, plus one or two at Arlington.

If he's anywhere near as good a trainer as he was a jockey, he'll do very well. He's a bit short of 50 yet, so he'll hopefully have a long career as a trainer ahead of him.
