Looks like it was the 4th (11/16/07) at Mtn...the 8 horse wins by 14.

imagine they actually had to pay $2.20 for that show bet. if you ask me it was only worth about $2.02!

On a tangent,
What is the origin of the laws that require a minimum of $2.10 or $2.20 for parimutuel payouts? Why wasn't $2.00 chosen?

What would be the incentive to bet if you won your bet and didn't make any money?

None - which is fine since negative pools hurt the people putting on the show.

Would be kind of cool if members here keep an eye out for one another and post when they see things like this to give folks a chance to evaluate the race.
We don't have to worry bout hurting one another's odds as the hammer is already down on the "lock".
Kind of a "heads up" for PA players man.
I will do my part

As I understand it, bridge jumping is when someone puts a large amount of money on a horse to show...and I guess is happy making .20 cents on the dollar or whatever when the horse wins....but what's going on when I see these enormous SHOW payoffs sometimes and the win & place aren't that big? Anyone know?

... and the horse finishes 4th or worse which perhaps gives them a reason to jump off a bridge

See above. The other show bettors share in the outsized show pool.

Lots of bridge jumpers today but it looks like they all cashed. The first two races of philly, races at calder and churchill, and others.
