McCain vs. Obama
I don't know much about the goings on between these two, but Sen McCain publicly released this letter to Sen Obama today. He slaps him pretty hard considering how Senators usually act towards each other in public. Here's the first and last paragraphs:
Dear Senator Obama:
I would like to apologize to you for assuming that your private assurances to me regarding your desire to cooperate in our efforts to negotiate bipartisan lobbying reform legislation were sincere. When you approached me and insisted that despite your leadership’s preference to use the issue to gain a political advantage in the 2006 elections, you were personally committed to achieving a result that would reflect credit on the entire Senate and offer the country a better example of political leadership, I concluded your professed concern for the institution and the public interest was genuine and admirable. Thank you for disabusing me of such notions with your letter to me dated February 2, 2006, which explained your decision to withdraw from our bipartisan discussions. I’m embarrassed to admit that after all these years in politics I failed to interpret your previous assurances as typical rhetorical gloss routinely used in politics to make self-interested partisan posturing appear more noble. Again, sorry for the confusion, but please be assured I won’t make the same mistake again.
<last>
As I noted, I initially believed you shared that goal. But I understand how important the opportunity to lead your party’s effort to exploit this issue must seem to a freshman Senator, and I hold no hard feelings over your earlier disingenuousness. Again, I have been around long enough to appreciate that in politics the public interest isn’t always a priority for every one of us. Good luck to you, Senator.
Sincerely,
John McCain
United States Senate

Seems like McCain is getting ready to appeal to the conservative base as we get closer to the 08 primary season.

Obama
On Jan 18 Obana talked about democrats' perception that republicans had a "culture of corruption" and agreed with the plantation statement of Hillary's.
And Obama is one of the democrats. Due to those statements I think it is stupid for McCain to think Obama had the notion that McCain preferred a bilateral task force over committee hearings- after all, if Obama were right, the committee hearing would be more likely to be republican one-sided than the task force- McCain claims he wanted both (to pressure the committee to get their act together?). I think both of them are assuming facts not in evidence and both are following in Kerry's footsteps by trying to play mind reader.
At least that is my take on this lover's spat! They should just kiss and make up!LOL!

A little while back, an Armed Robber was captured in a foot chase here in Columbus. A local news team just happen to show up as an officer was dragging the suspect from behind a house and "escorting " him down the street to a waiting police car. The guy saw the camera and starting yelling
" Wait to Obama gets in" "Wait till Obama gets in, this shit is going to end"
he ended it with " Obama is going to take over this country"
I almost fell out of my chair laughing..................of course the tape of Ted Kennedy calling him "Osama Obama" is funny as hell too..............
Just wait until Obama gets in!

What surprised me about it was McCain's tone. Normally the Senators are too cordial to each other. Obviously McCain knows he needs to show the conservative base that he isn't buddy buddy with the Democrats, because that is how he is perceived, even though a look at the guys record (with the exception of McCain-Feingold which accomplished nothing) shows that his conservative credentials are as solid as can be. But, he has an image problem heading into the primaries. He has broad appeal in the general election because of his perception as a maverick, but that hurts him trying to get the nomination. My guess is you'll see McCain doing a ton of campaigning around the country for candidates in the 2006 mid-terms to build support for his run in 08. I also don't think he'll get the nomination - being the perceived front runner at this point is probably more of a disadvantage than an advantage.

The politicians are gearing up for the race. Mcain firing a large volley to begin. Obama has a long way to go. IMHO neither will be in the race when it counts. Mcain lost my vote when he buddied up with Bush after what Bush did to him in the primarys and Obama has too many negative features to be a serious candidate.

McCain reminds me of 13 year old, wanting to sit at the big people's table on Thanksgiving, but being told to sit at the children's table for another year.
His little tirade with Obama looks suspicious and sounds like a familiar child's shout of "AM NOT!"
I just don' t see him in a leadership role.
Unfortunately, don't see anyone else on either side I would consider, either.
I'm hoping there is an unknown out there who has his act together and will emerge from the mud throwing that will undoubtedly start soon, and look clean by comparison.

Do you really think there's more than a dime's worth of difference between the two parties or the "two twits" Senators Obama and McCain?

Wow. After reading just the first post in that DU thread, all I can say is wow. Is it possible for a human being to be that much of a lemming?
There aren't going to be enough suicide hotline operators in the world come November if we are to believe that the view expressed in that DU thread applies to most of Obama's supporters.
"It`ll be magic." Oh my....
"I was nowhere near alive during the Kennedy administration but I have a feeling it will be a lot like that. America will be charmed." Charmed....as in Lucky Charms? I don't quite get that one....
"Michelle Obama will be much beloved. Sure, she`ll be a top rethuglican target during the campaign but after that, we`ll all be wowed by her grace and elegance." Oh.....my......GOD!
"I don`t think we understand just how much Obama is loved in the wider world already. His conciliatory stance and ..... " More like 'bent over stance' if I am hearing him right:
