I found the problem to getting skewed bris data,fields were being shifted .I use Access.I originally thought it might be the bris data files, but thanks to the help of members found it wasn't. Then my computer crashed a few times . I think I have really good anti-virus and firewall protection.I re-formatted my hrdrive,and reinstalled my OS, and it runs fine now. Frightening to think that a virus could really mess up an erst- while hancicapper!

Antivirus software isn't enough. You also need good adware/spyware removers, which most A/V software doesn't handle properly.

Two good free spyware removers are AdAware and Spybot Search and destory. You can find them here:

Each is good, and each one finds things the other one doesn't.

Adaware also offers a pay-for version for those who want a little bit of extra protection. Spybot exists because of user donations, and a contribution of $5 to $10 (via Paypal) will be appreciated (I'm not associated with them, but I do believe in donationware authors being compensated), but isn't mandatory and gains no privileges or extra features.

I have used it several times without a hitch. You'll have to sign in again at sites like this that leave a cookie so you don't have to keep signing in. I think you can do something to avoid that but I just let 'er rip.

I appreciate the direction.My original strategy that I settled on via computer maintenance was that if the computer slowed down, or started acting strange, I would take a few hours and just reformat and reinstall the os.That, and the use of ghost, which gives a clean original copy of the contents of the computer going back to an early date, worked well. But I guess I can t use that strategy in this situation, I could get wiped out.
I always liked to just leave my computer running 24 hours a day...I think I ll start shutting down when I go to bed.Leaves less of a window for hackers.And use the software you ve recommended.
