Someone picked up a pre-publication copy for me this spring at a publisher's fair. I'd say it's one of his better ones. He's certainly not as good at plotting as Dick Francis, but is more in tune with the game from the horseplayer's perspective.
Thanks for giving him some pub. He was a great writer. Sure, he had his formula, but his books were all very good. His nonfiction is very good, also. Some is on horses, some on Italy, California, etc.
