On-line bet-site extortion

Below is a link to an article that describes bringing down extortionists hitting on-line betting sites. The article is long and of no interest to most. Some here who run on-line businesses may find it enlightening. The network guys may find it a bit more interesting.

Definately worth a read. Something to think about next time you do online banking.

BTW - a relevant horse racing tie-in - betcris.com, the subject of this story is the company that bought billboard space on PVal's pants.

Thank goodness for altruism and the will to defeat evil at any cost.the company could have coughed up 40 k a year to the blackmailers ,but now they fork over 50 k to a software protection company.Wonder if this has ever been tried or is going on at wall street brokerage houses and we just don't hear about it.

I would think that if extortionists started hitting our financial institutions the gov would look into this big time.
