1989 BC Classic

Here's a riddle for you: the stretch run of the 1989 BC Classic featured 2 horses battling down the stretch together. One was obviously Sunday Silence. Who was the other horse? Hint: it was NOT Easy Goer, who only got involved in the picture the final 2-3 seconds.

It was Dick Lundy and Alan Paulson's good BLUSHING JOHN under Angel.. He was 2nd to the backstretch behind good ol' Slew City Slew who quit after 6f. He hung on for third behind Goer (nice job PDay.. another brilliant ride) at a nice price..

You are correct. Its funny how we hear about the "stretch battle" between SS and EG when in fact EG wasn't in the picture until the very end.
