My "value" horse ( 2 - Hidden Beauty ) ran a little better than I thought she could - 8 lengths and $20 better!
The 5 was suspect due to the huge drop in claiming price ( was claimed for 40k two back) . But her recent Beyers - 79,74, 71- were still hard to ignore.
Beauty's best Beyer was close enough to Mary Swanson to warrant a 7-1 play if the 5 scratched. I don't know where I got 14-1 from.

Espinoza is one of my favorite riders but his ride on the 7 ( Martinblesme) was very poor.
He rushed the horse up wide on the turn and got him fanned. A nice hole opened up on the inside in mid-stretch if he had stayed put.
The ride down the lane was a joke. He pounds on the horse with his stick, and the horse veers in and out and gets nipped by a nose.
I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger on a Pick 3 I had in mind.
1 and 2 with all with 7. ( 2 x 8 x 1 )
Frustrating day.
