What Percentage of Players Are Now Using Brisnet?

Roughly what percentage of players are now using Brisnet data with their computers to identify contenders? Based on what I observe on the tote odds it appears that almost everyone comes up with the same horses. The way the odds behave one might think that bots are doing the wagering. In the 90's and as far back as 4 or 5 years ago if you had Bris data you enjoyed a huge edge over the public. Not so anymore it seems. My best guess would be over 90% of the bettors are using Brisnet.

Brisnet user here. I believe they are the best PP's on the market. Also Like Timeform US, but mostly use Brisnet.

Started using BRIS back in the dial up days. I've been going to tracks in the south and southwest for 30 years and have never seen anyone else with a BRISNET chart except for my buddies. The more serious on-line players tend to gravitate to non DRF products but certainly not the casual railbirds.

I have used brisnet for over 10 years. I would have never thought about switching until recently, however last year in tournament play I was successful at finding more than a handful of nice price winners via the racing forms that they give out at the vegas tournaments.

In the last 4 months I have been using both of those when playing Gulfstream and had significantly better results with Drf. ( I do believe CJ made that light bulb go off in my head as to why )

I have not tried out TFUS or any other products so I can't comment on those. Until last year I was strictly a brisnet user.

With all of that said, in conclusion I actually think that you can study a race with bris info , then study the same race with the racing form ( or your preferred pp's ), and actually see the same race different ways.

Been using BRISNET for 20 years. Good products at good prices. I highly doubt the 90% figure cited by OP, I wonder whether the actual percentage is even higher than 50%. My handicapping approach is highly reliant on the BRISNET Ultimate Past Performances. For years I never saw anyone else using BRISNET PP's at the track, but now I do on occasion. In my opinion, the DRF is in the process of or already has priced themselves into oblivion. With their new "partnership" with DRF, it is only a matter of time until TFUS becomes overpriced; quite a shame since it appears to be a very good product. If I wasn't so locked in to BRISNET, I definitely would have given TFUS a serious trial.

If one is a serious Turf race player, I don't see how anyone can use BRISNET pps for horses that race overseas. It's total garbage with most of information missing.....DRF does actually provide much more complete and accurate record for horses that raced at foreign racetracks.

I use ULTIMATE Brisnet Pps because they're are FREE on-line...even then the only information I look are their pace figures, which I also have to take with a grain of salt. When I use Brisnet PPs, I NEED to look at the ACTUAL chart from Equibase to find out what actually happened during the race AND who the horse in question ran against. Brinset finish line abbreviation are TOTALLY undecipherable.

FORMULATOR PPs are excellent but they're too expensive..so I purchase them on BIG days only like the upcoming Fountain of Youth racecard.

I am finding out that many people who wager on horses in racebooks only use the casino provided handouts made by Equibase or Brisnet. I do see few printed Bris PPs and occasinal Thoro-Graph, but the surprising thing is that most don't use any PPs, but the one who do, use the DFR which are FREE or cost only $3.00.

I use the Bris Ultimates, running selected data through Excel, editing if necessary after watching replays. It has been my experience that if you weight heavily toward speed you will nearly always land on the favorites, of course, but if you fiddle around with the Current Class and Average Competitive Level categories you will find contenders at better prices. I am pretty well convinced that there is predictive value in those two categories, and those numbers go into my Excel model. I would love to know Bris' recipe for coming up with those metrics. I still have the same old problem, though: you can't get those numbers in data file format unless you buy the $14 data files, which I refuse to do. So I spend a whole lot of time manually entering data. (I see now that for a $30 per month plan Bris will sell those files for $7. Still not doing it.)

I used bris years ago but not really anymore, haven't paid for them in years. The reason why I don't use them is that I can't trust the figs. The figs, both pace and final time, are computer generated, right? The beyers and tfus are so much better. If I have the dough I'll get TG, but for the money using formulator and tfus is an inexpensive (fairly) way to have pretty good data.

For us regular "Joe Six-Pack" handicappers....Bris pace/speed figs work fine.

I started using BRIS when I was betting via Philly Phone bet. Still using them, they're good enough.

I use the HDW RsPos Reports...for which I pay $149 a month. If there is a better deal in horseracing...then I haven't come across it.

Want to clarify one thing on my post earlier. For the price think Brisnet is the best deal and solid PP's. However, I realize there are more expensive products that may be better overall. For instance, I really like Thorograph but I can not afford to use the product that much. I checked out the HDW site and it looks like good info. HTR is another one. Overall, a lot of options and I guess you have to find the PP"s you get results with at a price you can afford.

I use Brisnet and TFUS in combination. Brisnet PPs are free for me through TwinSpires (must bet $2 on the card) and I have a yearly subscription to TFUS.
Used to use DRF hard copy primarily, but the online DRF is not competitively priced and as I slowly gravitated toward more online and less hard-copy handicapping DRF became less relevant. I understand that Formulator is a good product but there's only so much time.
