Taking a shot with the debuting Majestic Tom scoring an outside post here if he stays up in the 5-1 or better range. Didn't love any of the others and this one doesn't exactly have one good red herring possibility of a work but rather a bonafide cache of works that look like if he's going to ever win a maiden allowance at Saratoga, it's probably going to be the debut in a group without a clear standout play like this.

Damn gets off badly and then the outside post becomes a handicap the rest of the way while the other horse scores at the same price.

Coulda been lovely but I will retract the part about if Tom ever wins it will be in the debut because I think he ran pretty damn well in defeat once stuck with plan B or E and should still get a nice price next time off of that one.

Race 2 is brutal on me.

This is one of those races that I'd almost have to play ALL in a pick bet because my line has little between most of these. Even the is probably shaping up to be likely my best play at 10-1 now on the premise that he may have gone off form in his last few but he's probably just better and looks to have been gearing up for this meet and despite no wins here or at the distance, his races under the conditions are pretty good.

As Sam Sparkle continues to drift up, he's looking more like a play for the simple reason that he is the one that is both accomplished at seven furlongs and over this surface. Maybe a bit too simple an approach but those tangibles got him into range of a few others that he's a better price then.

Now... how to play it.

Why are these horses running for a $50K tag? Shouldn't at least half of this field be claimed today?

Just feels like something crazy is gonna happen here, and I don't have a clue as to what. Sam Sparkle is my thoughts, but gonna pass.
