November 28, 2015
Race

Selections

Comments

1
#8 Holiday Weekend

3rd off layoff and drop to 5K can start the Holiday Weekend with a win.

#6 Pixie Chick

Other half of Gorham entries last win was here 4-07. Might need one.

#7 Scarlet Savvy

Comes off 6 month rest. Ran well at MVR in ’14 vs. allowance foes.

2
#9 Heroic Act

1st race here 11-11 decent in the slop. Just missing this level all Summer

#7 Lawyer Charles

Claimed by low profile barn last out. NW4L easier condition than NW3Y

#3 Candid Opinions

Let’s be Candid. He has no speed and will be last early. Might come late

3
#1 Stormin Larry

Stormed home a winner in 1st try at MVR 11-11. Can do it again today.

#4 Capiche

Only horse to challenge top pick in common race. Might chase in vain.

#6 Sin N Sail

Faulkner charge only one race in 11 months. Not one of his go to jocks.

4
#6 Luckyallmylife

She got a good education out of #1 post in career debut. Can graduate.

#5 Dorcie Spot

Draw a line thru Ky Downs fiasco. Firing bullets and adds blinkers since.

#4 Proud and Bright

Huge run here 11-11 in the slop. Love the work since. Upset possibility.

5
#2 Jac’s Fact

Multiple Oh Bred Stakes winner. Defending champ ‘14. His race to lose.

#4 Plain Ol’ Willard

Has finished behind top pick 7 times in a row. Was favored ’14 edition.

#3 Geppetto

Many Stakes races with bad results. Switches to T D. Can hold on for 3rd

6
#7 P Town Boo

Game filly has done little wrong at MVR. Cuts back to 5 ˝. One to beat.

#2 Solitary

Faced runaway winners last 3 at T-Down. Connections are 0 for meet.

#3 Salsamon

Back in lifetime conditions. Will have to fight with top pick throughout.

7
#10 Alliseeisgold

Conditions are perfect for Oh Bred Stakes winner. All I see in the race.

#5 Fifty Shades

Versatile grey has run well on turf, poly and dirt. Got tied up here 11-10

#6 Sheer Talent

Showed talent at Santa Anita this Spring. Ran 3rd twice vs 16K claimers.

8
#10 Mr. Miles

Dominated only sprint on dirt. Was wide around 2 turns in MVR debut.

#2 Cocico

Cuts back to 6 furlongs after 3 solid efforts routing. 11-9 race was live.

#6 Donsandroses

Catches a field with little early speed. Gives backers a thrill til 1/8th pole

Race 7 – #3 BILL NACK and #2 ROCK N HEART are fast enough on their day to be considered upset possibilities to logical selection #10 ALLISEEISGOLD who may be very sharp third off layoff. Box ’em and watch the underdogs try late.

i looked at BILL NACK with all those wins. the last 2 races that ALLISEEISGOLD comes out of were very solid fields, plus this guy should be crossing over with no problem. the other horses would have to beat him to the lead and hold him off. tough task for those guys.

No arguement here regarding probable winner but I think they will let him go and maybe rally for pieces - exacta to pay slightly more than win. Several odds on winners today in my opinion. I'm out of town but assume it's muddy - usually a crapshoot. Good luck.

i remember when you couldn't get 5 horses in an allowance race at Beulah. this place has turned out great. the people running it have been outstanding. the only problem i know of is the place is to small for all the business it can bring in. that area got people that want to go to the casino and race track. i hope they don't back down on the racing end of it going forward. its a good mix for other things there.

ALLISEEISGOLD ($2.60) was much the best. ROCK N HEART was taken back to prove empty at crunch time. BILL NACK scratched. So much for me . . .

The POSTMAN had the exacta cold ($8.80).

i love Mahoning and will give them my action because they do the right thing. they haven't gone up in signal fees, and they are working at putting out a better product. when they get more in their pools i will step up and bet more into them, and i am sure they will.

even though ALLISEEISGOLD won pretty impressively yesterday, he looked like a very tired horse. i am positive that horse will get a rest now and we won't see him back in action before the spring. i saw there is an Ohio bred stake race for him in December, but i highly doubt we see him there.

Thankfully the Ohio Racing Commission pushed Penn to put in a small grandstand like seating area and squeeze in more barns than originally proposed. An enclosed paddock, better sight lines from the apron and lines to cashiers/auto machines that were less congested would have been nice.

However, this uniquely tiny track has plenty of room for daily racing patrons. I hear that the Sky Bar near the simulcast center serves good food at reasonable prices and it looks very inviting. The suburban location just off interstate highways is near many hotels, fast and full restaurants - very convenient place to visit.

Given that this is a winter track in Ohio the racing programs are very challenging. It appears to me that the racing office is doing an outstanding job. The few local horsemen that I know well enough to speak to are very pleased with the operation.

In this era I believe this is the type of facility that gives new fans an up close and personal LIVE experience that will draw them into the game.

JAC'S FAC, run down late, yesterday is an example of another excellent but tired horse. I'm beginning to pay more attention to the number of times that horses have been out now - thinking that the extended racing season in Ohio is challenging for outfits with limited stables chasing decent purses.

i agree with you, the difference yesterday was JACS'S FAC remained in a hard race while ALLISEEISGOLD was coming out of much tougher races and found an easy field so he was able to get to the wire on top.

HaHa! You are hired to be my publicist. I think its a great value....free here...a buck at MVR. Equibase has their tip sheets priced at $12.50!!

After 1 month, my top selection has won 59 of 160 races for a 37% win strike.
My 2nd pick has won 32 races. Total is 57% win strike for top two selections. If you boxed my top 3 picks in every race this meet, you would have hit 19 trifectas. After scratches there were 148 races so I hit the trifecta 13% of the time so far.

Another great card Monday! 7 races with 12 horses and one race with 10, the other 9. The most famous "filly maiden winner" in the world is entered in Race 7. Leather's Slappin faces males after he whipped the girls last time out at 110-1!!!

I got some bad news today. It looks like I'm violating my contract by putting The Postman's Picks online. I've been told I can put a few horses that I like daily, but not post the entire sheet. Hopefully PA members enjoyed the tip sheet and will continue to follow Mahoning Valley.
