Las Vegas racebook rules / best book

Does anyone know if there are strange payout rules or maximums at Vegas racebooks? Do they take an even greater rate than general OTBs? I'm considering going for the Breeder's Cup and would like to know the wagering rules and/or any recommended casinos for race wagering. In particular I play multi-race wagers (pick 4 mostly) among other exotics.

Thanks.

Best book?

Red Rocks on the northwest side in Summerlin has a clean casino and free past performances (well the whole room shares them on one side table), if you don't mind driving 10 minutes away.

All horse betting is parimutuel, so there are no 'rules' per se other than 'house quinellas' which might be non-parimutuel, but i don't know much about those, most bets go right into the pool and the rules are just as if they would be at the live venue.

Are they actually a true addition to the local track pools or just a mirror of what the tracks pay? If the former, do they charge another 2% added on takeout (that is, the posted payout on the track screen is greater than mine in the book)? If the latter , any max payout? I just don't wanna hit a big pick 4 or 5 and get capped on a big win.

Of the main strip casinos which do you guys prefer?

All books that take horse bets in NV are pari-mutuel, to my knowledge.
The money wagered goes directly into track pools, and pays full track odds.

There may be some hole in the wall places I don't know of that
still book their own. Restrictive limits would apply there.

I haven't been to LV in a long time.
Others would be able to help with recommendations better than I could.

No, you get exactly what they pay at the track, no caps and no "hidden fees".

Wynn is a good place to bet, very horse player friendly book.

Wynn is horse friendly. Steve Wynn has always liked the horse players so he treats them well. Anytime I go to las vegas & play the horses, I head to Wynn.
I think it is >= $200 sports bet to get a free drink, for horses its $10.

30 years ago they were all 'racebooks' and had max pay-offs. stuff like full track odds for $20 WPS, then max at 20/1, 10/1. 4/1. Daily Double max at 300/1, you had to read their 'rules board'.

Now most (if not all), have their bets comingled into the track pools, and you get the same as the track - and your money adds to the pools, and lowers your winning pay-offs.

when I was there a few years ago, if you opened an account and bet on a machine they gave you 10 pct of your action back in comps.

yes, you sign up for a temporary account, deposit money, and you can bet from your seat.
