mega

we want to reduce our tv cable bill. we can reduce the costs by eliminating the premium and some sports channels. also the megabits per sec. for the internet.
it would drop 105 per sec to 25 per sec. We do not stream movies or play video games. just the basics, e-mail, youtube, xpressbet, facebook. on line banking etc. how much slower will the internet be?
does any one use direct tv w/ the internet? pros / cons
thanks

I've a 6Mps DSL internet (all that is available in my area) and it works just fine for all internet activities (including youtube). Even fine for Twinspires and live racing feeds.

Using a Verison router I am getting the following performance:

http://www.speedtest.net/

(I would never ever going back to a slower connection, it simply does not worth it.. Tried direct tv in the past but it really sucks....)

TW is also equally fast and reliable..

TW?
Time Warner Road Runner?

Not in my area - it is pathetically slow.

Not very slow in my area (NYC). The following is a shot from my home based TW router:

It is my business Verizon account (But I am not sure about the FiOS acronym).. We are a recent convert from TW and it seems to be a little faster..

You are in a pretty good area for over the air TV as well. All the major networks broadcast from Pittsboig so a decent roof or attic antenna plus a service like Sling TV may fit the bill.
