Florida is known to be the sunshine state. However, the temperature in Florida can drop dramatically. The lowest temperature ever recorded in Florida was in Tallahassee at 14 degrees. The previous record was also in Tallahassee in 1982 at 15 degrees.

Just sayin'

NYC = 9.

I don't find this abnormal. We usually get one or two wicked cold spells in Jan, much in the same way we get some extreme heat in July. If you remember, opening day of Saratoga was almost cancelled because of the heat.

You know its cold when the weatherperson says enthusiastically "tomorrow, we will get above zero!!!"

Chicago area - NEGATIVE 10 degrees (wind chill -29). But above freezing by the weekend. Then the problem will be flooding.

Canandaigua -4, Wind chill -30

Strong winds all night, blizzard conditions just to our north and west.
Thruway closed from exit 50 on westward.

Everything is closed around here - schools, day care, some businesses.
I'm burning a stack of my old racing forms to keep my feet warm.

If you're gonna burn those little pencils, I would first remove the lead.

Wait, Tom.... no comment somehow blaming Obama for this too? And I am sure MostPost will blame Boehner/Bush in return

Just pulling your chain.
