NYRA Takeout Cut?!?!?

Read this article of DRF. They are looking to cut the non carryover pick 6 takeout from 20-15 percent. Sounds to me like they want to try to lure some "big fish" into the pick 6s.

This doesn't affect much of their handle.

For instance, yesterday's total pick six pool was $389,167 while total handle on NYRA-Aqu was $7,136,042. That calculates to less than 5.5% of the total handle being pick six handle.

Last Saturday the pick six pool was $404,786 and the total handle was $11,684,491 or less than 3.5% of the total handle for the day.

So this proposal amounts to a good advertising ploy as carryovers could be larger and a good deal for the for the pick six player. Being such a small percentage of NYRA's total handle, bumping the pick six handle percentage up a few notches, should not have much if any effect on NYRA's bottom line.

Bravo NYRA for looking out for the horseplayer!

Yea, I know the P6 isnt played as much in NYRA. I think they just want to try to get some more action into the pool, and maybe get it somewhat competitive with So. Cal in that respect, although they get mucho dinero in their P6 pools

Exclamation

Wow, that's a pretty damn good deal if you are a pick six player.
I predict it will lure some big fish, for sure.....hopefully not the Lewiston, Maine type......

NYRA's one of the few groups that actually knows that they are not the center of the universe, unlike one other one I won't mention (*cough*MAGNA*cough). I'm glad they didn't lose control of their tracks during the mess with tellers betting, I'd hate to see Magna gain control of Saratoga.

Case of whales.

The weekend they had the Big one. Win pools were near 350K a race. Generally I see 160-220 a race. It Pays to be kind to the Pik6 players. Money follows money.

It's the strongest leg of the pro-rebate debate.
