HONG KONG – HAPPY VALLEY - WED 4/25/18
Good morning to everyone interested in the best racing product on the planet!
Hi there Woody! I see you’re still offering some nice write up’s on the HK racing. It looks like a lot of work to me, but I’m sure you enjoy their racing program as much as I do.
I thought I would stop by and offer my ideas on another nice card.
It looks like another value packed day at Happy Valley with 8 decent races on the Turf: 3-Class3, 4-Class4, and 1-Class5 (Not really top classes, but these type of races usually offer some great value)
Post Time Race #1 – 7:15 AM WED EST
Current Hong Kong Weather: https://www.google.com/search?q=Hong...hrome&ie=UTF-8
TVG is offering live video for the all 8 races.
There’s also Live Video on:
http://www.drf.com/drf/live_video/hong_kong/392221
If you can't view the races try listening on the HK Jockey Club radio: (Click on English) http://www.hkjc.com/english/press/live.asp#
For those of who might appreciate the value of the live tote action it’s available here:
(Hit the Back Arrow <-- in the Upper Left and then Click on English)
http://bet.hkjc.com/default.aspx?url...gRedirect=true
I’ll won’t be posting any Live selections for the races in Hong Kong this morning, but my Early selections are ALL be based on a static tote analysis. My Final selections and plays will all be based the Live tote analysis.
I’ve taken a look at the M/L’s in combination with the early and odds used the static tote analysis to come up with some preliminary picks for each race. Later, the Live tote analysis will shed some more light on these and any others I might have missed. The latest tote action (by 4 mins to post) may reveal some things that cause the Top 3 pick substitutions, but currently they all look fairly decent for some nice Quinella & Tri scores.
BTW the Top 3 picks have continued to produce some nice Dutch Win returns when the combined odds produce Profit Margins higher ^ than 50%.

Last race watch list horses running today:
Race 4 What Else But You (even): I usually don’t put horses back on a watch list immediately after being put on in the race before last, but after this run I couldn’t resist it. Raced on the rail after drawing the barrier closes to it, moved off it entering the stretch and quickly ran away from the three that were in front of him, was under a hand ride when he galloped under the wire beating a very good Class 2 field, and him coming out of it with a total rating of 98 means he gets this kind of group again.
Race 5 Brave Legend (4-1): Drew the outside post with the short run to the turn going 1200 at Happy Valley, raced in the back third on the backside while unable to find his way to the rail and was caught three wide in the turn. He then moved to the five path entering the stretch, was gaining on the leaders late but was beaten by better trips, he galloped out past the leaders soon after the wire.
Race 5 Sparkling Dragon (9-1): After winning his first two races he was a little flat against Win Beauty Win (71) in the next, he was then placed on the shelf for 3 months. After the break he was bet down as the 2-1 favourite in his first try at the downtown course, unfortunately he wasn’t able to get the lead where he’s most comfortable. Raced a couple lengths off the leader 2 wide in the turn, moved to the four path for the run home but as soon as he grabbed the lead he started to tippy toe a little and was out run to the wire by Infinity Endeavour (82) who was on his game that night. Now that he has a race under him, he should improve off that effort.
Race 9 Wishful Thinker (8-1): Went off as the second betting choice at 2-1 and was a length slow while breaking on the rail, he then raced a little closer than his usual running position. Pass the midway point down the backside he began to climb while looking for clear running room, when he entered the stretch he was full of energy, but was totally hemmed in with no place to go. He commenced to raise his head while trying to find a gap, when room became available he was gaining on the winner at the wire but was just was a little short. Unfortunately he picked up 2 rating points for a total of 81 points, so unless Gibson can find a 85 point Class 3 race he’ll be a light weight in Class 2 next out.
Past watch list runners running today:
None
Key Plays:
Race 5 Brave Legend (4-1)
Race 6 Seasons Bloom (8-5)
Race 10 Doctor Geoff (7-2)
Longshots:
Race 3 Rule Thee (20-1)
Race 4 Dundonnell (11-1)

Last race watch list horses running today:
Race 10 Eagle (10-1): First time starter in Hong Kong after winning 2 of 4 in Australia, drew the 12 post with the short run to the turn in a 1,200 metre Class 3 event. Threw his head at the start and was immediately taken to the rear in an effort to save as much ground as possible in the turn, raced two wide then drifted out to the five path entering the stretch, was making a move mid-stretch but was blocked by Orionids when he became to drift out when he started tiring. Rispoli then moved inward to avoid that and then had to check up when So Fast came into his path, galloped out well afterwards without being pushed.
Race 11 Hezthewonforus (2-1): First time starter in Hong Kong for Size after winning his only out in New Zealand, picked up the services of Moreira for the effort and was heavily bet at the windows going off as the even money favourite. Broke well and was placed mid-pack but 200 metres from the start became rank which continued in the turn while racing two wide, was slightly covered up at the top of the stretch and was outrun late in the stretch by the second betting choice Win Beauty Win (78), he galloped out well. Look for an equipment change to solve the climbing issue.
