What ever happened to Horseplayer Magazine?

It was a great magazine, glossy, high quality....website no longer working.

Is it no longer around?

Sorry, but I was cleaning out my closet and wanted to renew it and can't find anything online really about it.

Oh, and here are my past issues for sale on eBay.

Auction closes tonight...

Magazine is still around.
Typically late, usually thin.
Nowhere near the promise it showed when it came out.
Probably 25% is devoted to horse players. The big names no long write article for them.

The website has been down forever. I suspect they are trying to win enough money at the track to hire someone to start it for them! :D

The occasional good article makes me keep it, but I know I am paying far too much for the product.

Without a website, how do they get new subscribers?

Probably the old-fashioned way, with a subscription post-card in each issue

That wouldn't be NEW subscribers, then, would it?

If anybody is interested, there is a digital Horse Racing Magazine on line.

I understand your point, but I believe that I've seen the magazine in various retail venues from time to time. I wouldn't think that it distributes exclusively by subscription, does it?

As an added thought, the magazine might run ads in various racing-related periodicals that would include a toll-free number or an order form that one could use to subscribe. (However, I wouldn't know whether the magazine does that or not.)

I wasn't aware there was a number to call.

My marketing friends call this the "sales prevention" approach.

"Sales prevention" would be if the number weren't toll-free, wouldn't it? :)

Well, I don't know because I can't seem to find one. LOL

Anyone heard anything from HP magazine?
I think the last time I got one was the BC.
The web site is still down.

I want my magazines or a refund.
Anyone else being stiffed?
I am going to file a complaint with the State Attorney General.
Suggest anyone do the dame...maybe some will go to the paddock and hand the jerk a summons.

All horseplayer magazines die broke.

Except for American Turf, which for some reason is eternal

I've written for HP Magazine 6-7 times over the years. Over the past few years I've had a real hard time getting paid. The website is down because the webmaster wasn't getting paid either. It's a shame as it had promise...

When they figured out you had bet half of your life saving on the horse, they stiffed.

I know I wrote this before (so many HorsePlayer Mag threads). I got stiffed a very long time ago, almost ten years. I was able to actually talk to someone there via telephone. Some smartass woman told me that the Mailman probably stole my magazine. I told her I was a Mailman and that was truly ignorant. I asked to speak with Tom Quigley and she said he's too busy to talk to me. I did e-mail and write to Quigley many times, with no response. I do like the Paddock idea!
