I was a 9-year old Dodger fan living in Corona, Queens, NYC on a block full of Yankee fans during October, 1951. I took lots of ribbing after that homer.

Can remember the sick feeling I had to this day; taught me never to "invest" too much in being a fan, a lesson reinforced when the Dodgers left 6 years later.

I was a freshman at Penn State and while walking to another class, I heard the call from a radio another student had. Some moments are ingrained in the brain forever. Good memory. Incidentally, I was a Pirate fan. Our brief moment in the sun was the 1962 world series staring Bill Mazaroski.

Thought you were off with that one, Aner. I was at Yankee Stadium for one of the '62 WS games with the SF Giants.

Why infamy? The longshot has to win sometime. And yes. Last night I woke up and thought damn I got the wrong year. Of course it was 1960.

When asked if he knew what pitch was coming beforehand, Bobby Thomson's answer was,"I'd have to say no more then yes".
Durocher was well known for stealing signs by using telescopes and a bell an buzzer system and then relaying the pitch it to the batter with a signal of some kind. This use of mechanical devices to steal signs was not made illegal in baseball until 1961. Stealing signs was and is part of the game.

Answer;

Bobby says , when asked the question "did you know what pitch to look for",
"sure" it was going to be High and Inside because that was the only pitch that he could not hit, ...Bingo.
