AQU, Friday, 02/21/2003, the $1.00 payout for the pick 4 was $442.50.
The winning dollar odds for each of the 4 legs was 2.85, 8.10, .65, 5.20.
Base on a new inter-active table I just put up on my personnel web page;
if you had a -15% edge in the win pool (equaling the win pool track take-out),your edge for that pick 4 would be -36%..This pick 4 would double you loss.
However see what happens to the pick 4 edge as you win pool edge improves;
win pool edge............pick 4 edge
-.10.............................-19%
-.05.............................+1%
0..................................+23%
+.05.............................+50%
+.10.............................+80%
If this is correct, you dont have to have a positive edge in the win pool to have a postive edge in the pick 4 pool.
Any comments?
I'll be placing a pick 3 and pick 6 table on my web page shortly..
