Here's the Grounds of Saratoga. We have tables in the Festival tent. It is the larger tent directly behind the Clubhouse. Maybe PA can expand the Photo so it is easier to read. Thanks mike

Though it looks far away, it isn't bad, great place to spend the day.

Mike,

Any chance we can get a couple seats in the clubhouse or grandstand each day, or for some of the days, just for guys to share throughout the day? I'll foot the bill, just don't know if they are available.

Cool, let me know what you need, I think guys would like to be able to head over and watch one live now and then from the seats, I know I would not seeing live racing much anymore. Pimlico Thanksgiving weekend wasn't quite the same!

Nice Circles Bill.

Do me a favor if you work on it again. Put circles around where I was standing, and where PA was standing , when I looked him dead in the eye and told him the Sox were rolling over his Yankees on the way to the World Series!

.

I meant to talk to you about this! Not bad? When you came two years ago, you came the last 4 days of the meet. You'll be there Travers Week this year. Different ball game.

I'll explain:

Saratoga seats 18,000. When you put 40,000 a weekday, and 50 & 70 thousand Travers weekend, people are in the trees! People sit in the walkway's on thier coolers.

We sit there, 30 yards from the Paddock, We have a litte buffet going, Beer and Soda on Ice, with fans on us, Laptop's everywhere. We're royalty. Travers weekend , the little plastic chain around the tent is like the GREAT WALL OF CHINA!

We take the Tent over. Ticket Girl? Yea ok, he's with me...thanks. You know what I mean? We turn the TV's our way, we move our table's together, we rig up the Power (exstention chords and what not). We invite pretty girls in. Oh yeah... We roll! We live like Red State Republicans for a week. We live good. Meanwhile the peasants drool at our comfort beyond the Plastic Chain!

Plus Craig! We're walking there.. ;) :D . We're living right on top of it. We have a LAWN JOCKEY! on the front lawn of our crib! We're strolling down the street to "our tent"!

Great anchor spot to! We get around for sure. But when you have the steady spot...it's pure gold. People come by! A fair amount people come by that just read the board... You'd be surprised. I've probably met 6 or 10 people that never post. Even with the people you plan on meeting, some come 2 days, some 1, some 5. So your same spot makes it all work.

I'm thinking a couple of guys will come by specifically to see you? Your talent has won you a following. I'd be surprised if one or two of your guys did'nt just pop in to say hello. But also writers and other guys come by. Some of the Closer Look writers come by, Seth Morrow from Equidaily stops in, TLG is invited again this year, to stop by and play a couple of races with us. Steve who writes the DERBY TRAIL will be by and He has a concession there , and invited us over for lunch one day. Nice guy, Other people...all kinds.

Plus, the juice I bring to the extracircular activities at the track.

Yea, not bad.

I agree with Suff !! Its a great spot. Travers Day was hot , crowded , but we were Kings under the tent !!! Living in total comfort, and when the Thunder Storm erupted after the Travers we were in the best spot in the house, ERRRRRRRR, well at least most of us

nooo.. come on. I'm just f'ng around. I didn't take it disrespetfully at all...

It is getting close.... You say your counting the days? Wait until you see how tough it is once the meet starts in 6 weeks!! :jump: You'll want to be there so bad, it hurts.

Saratoga is the place. Taking nothing away from other meets, or events,
Keeneland has its Purses, & great races. Breeders Cup is Breeders cup, Triple Crown is Triple crown & Del-Mar is Del-mar. Saratoga is the All-Star game. No getting around that. It is the Premier meet in America, perhaps the world. There is a three day period when we are there, when they rattle off 11 graded races, including 7 Grade 1's.

We'll have a great time and put a nice chapter in our book of life.

... and watch one live now and then from the seats
Here's a story.
Two years ago, my first trip, Tom and Dave S. decide to go to the grandstand for a bowl of chowder. I'm not in-the-know about this but I want to get the full Toga experience so I tag along while they chit chat about this and that. The chowder place is on the far side of the grandstand so you can look out a big door and see the apron and the outside rail etc. Tom looks out and says "Wow. They got live racing here?". Cracked me up.
The chowder was good too.

BillW and the boys,

I'm starting to squirrel away things for our Toga time...computer paper, ink, stapler, the heavy duty power strip Bill and I bought last year, stuff to keep the binocs clean, going to bring lots of paper gatorade and NCAA cups for the tent, digital camera to catch Bubbles when he hits the BIG ONE this year  ...Suff you still have the Gatorade ice chest???? or should I borrow another from St Johns for the week? We got some nice large ones like you see on the NFL sidelines...anything else you guys can think of for the tent..let me know.

PS: I'll bring plenty of ADVIL for Mike after his late night escapades with the honeys ;) CJ..you get any deals on GOOD cigars there in the PX in Belgium?

For the guys driving in - a few lawn chairs may be of use - I can see a bar-b-que breaking out one evening assuming the backyard will accomodate. The advanced scouts can check out the backyard and report back.

Ron, I don't remember, did that power strip have surge protection built in? If not I'll bring one along.

Thank you. I'm looking forward to seeing you again. Your part of the Baltimore contigent. We've got Texan's, Californian's , Canadiens, Pennyslvannian's coming. My role is overstated. A lot of guys stepped up with a few bucks in March to get the house. I did'nt have 2500 I could live without for 5 months. BIllW picks up the Seats.

That brings up the issue of when peope stop in. If You eat a sandwich, and have a few beers, especially if someone is with you, put $20.00 aside for BillW. At the end we sort of tally up a few things, and whoever is the wholest grabs a chunk of the nut. We don't ask people for money... If you don't have it , no problem, but if your flush, kick in. That's a little of how we do this.

We stretch very little into a lot. Everybody pitchs in. I'm just the HUB. It's the Paceadvantage Saratoga Getaway. There's some really nice people here. Amongst the freaks , there are some intelligent, accomplished, regular guys. Each one is insane in his own way, because they're Horse Junkies.

: ...Suff you still have the Gatorade ice chest???? or should I borrow another from St Johns for the week?

I thought you were dead or locked up!.... :D Seriously> Answer your phone!

My old friend, the gatorade cooler. That is at Whispering Pines. That thing was my little red wagon last year. I took it everywhere. You could hear me coming from 100 feet away. I slept with it beside my bed! It never had less than 30 beers in it. On Ice!

Last year was the beer program, this year is the Pepsi & ***** Program.

See if you can get any "Romeo and Julieta's". You seen them? Tough to get Cuban.

I smoke less than a dozen a year, but when I do throw down, I smoke "Don Tomas". It's Honduran I believe. Might be Dominican Republic...80& sure its Honduran.

Suff, that is a good idea that Joe, came up with having a PA party at the Harness track. It was a ball last year at the Harness track.Trijack hit a slot machine and was like a kid in a candy store showing everyone the money he won.

Most of us sat at the bar and the girl bartender looked like a Dike,She sure talked a lot to Charlie and BillW , hummmm.... She called me sweetheart. I thought that was a guys line ?

Maybe we should plan for it right after the Travis. Saturday night, all the guys that come on Travis day can hang-out with the rest for the evening

The more I think about it the more I like it...........Your right Joe, can't wait anylonger. Suff, want to go up on opening weekend. [ Check everything out.]

Thats fine... A better idea. Especially Travers week. another thing... Whispering Pines was great... But cooking anything beyond a cup of coffee was impossibe. I understand Jack K is going to handle cooking for us one or two nights. I predict we will have a BUFFET FIT FOR A KING! at the race Track everyday. Honestly...we're gonna live!

Good Food, Good Friends, Great atmosphere, Great Racing... It is getting hard to "not" be excited. I know we have a large chunk of the summer. Btw I was at Mohegan last week looking for you,

How about having a race dedicated to Paceadvatage at the trotters? That will be fun.

Yea know....? That may work. We should plan on all going over to the Trotters one night... Let me see what I can put together on that.

My wife an I are making are first ever trip to Saratoga this year for the Travers. We're flying in on Thursday and will be at the track Friday and Saturday. Is it cool just to walk up to the tent on either of those days? I don't want to impose, but I'd like to put faces to the names on the net.

Cool is, in fact, the operative word.

We will likely be the only spot in the place with a half dozen notebooks open. (And we know how to use them!)

I'm pretty sure I speak for all of us in saying that All are welcome to drop by.

My wife an I are making are first ever trip to Saratoga this year for the Travers. We're flying in on Thursday and will be at the track Friday and Saturday. Is it cool just to walk up to the tent on either of those days? I don't want to impose, but I'd like to put faces to the names on the net.

Absolutley. You'll find our spot ideal. I expect you'll find our crowd enjoyable and your free to squat in with us if you'd like.

You won't be sorry if you join us those two days. We just have a great old time.

Great, looking forward to it.

By the way, my wife is a pretty serious handicapper too. I think it's one of the reasons our marriage works so well.

The old man and I are going up early, on Sunday and Monday. If anyone's going to be there, feel free to try to track us down and say hi. We're normally near the paddock, shouldn't be too hard to spot a kid who's 6'4", lol.
