Win10 comes with Windows Defender, which used to be Microsoft Security Essentials.

MSE got a bum rap in the past, and many experts agree that it was deservedly so.

Defender is by all accounts an improved version of MSE...I use it exclusively on my Win10 machine and I think it's plenty...Defender and common sense will keep you safe.

These 2 links should answer some of your questions. The answer to your 2nd question is 'it depends'. Windows Defender is getting better all the time. It was part of Microsoft Essentials. Get free MalwareBytes as an add-on to any WIN OS.
