* I track any Morning Line that is either 5/2 or 2/1 and any Morning Line ending with 5 (i.e. 2/5, 3/5,,,,9/5 etc.) I refer to these as the Morning Line Favorite.

There were only 3 prices that paid under $8 today the rest ranged anywhere from $12 to $78.

I don't handicap anymore or pay attention to class drops.

However, I wish I had paid attention to this one from G Diprima, #5 Branded Hand went from a Starter Allowance to a Claimer in 11 days and he busted their behinds today with a $78 winner!!!

I guess if Mr Rosenthal is entered at anything below some type of Allowance Optional Claiming** I will pay attention to him should he return for some type of class drop!!!

** I group any Optional Claiming race (i.e. Starter Optional Claiming, Optional Claiming, etc.) as Allowance Optional Claiming

I will pay attention to G Diprima in Turf races at Aqueduct!!!

I posted Branded Hand in another thread. It was his second after the claim. That allowance race was just a prep race.

Mr. Rosenthal is no longer trained by DiPrima.

Hey Winger,

I really wish I had seen that post, but as I think of it I probably still wouldn't have played it as G Diprima hadn't yet shown a profit on the Turf at Aqueduct.

Also, you are correct I see Branded Hand with another trainer now.

So in this case, handicapping beat profit trending.

Branded Hand looked good on the track, but had a track record of hanging. he had lots of seconds and thirds and almost no wins. He also turned out not to be the best horse in the race. If you look at the trip Barrel of Love got, he had no place to go from about mid stretch to the final few yards, and he just couldnt make up the difference in time. This is one case where I think Alverado should have just fanned outside of the #2 when he had the chance but chose not to thinking he would split horses but couldnt.
