Started using Firefox as my browser asking for plugin for video suggestion?

If you don't already have it, VLC is pretty universal.
Often, a specific video player will be required (i.e. flash or quicktime) so you'll probably wind up with all of them eventually.

Over multiple versions of FF, the most frequent video problems are with the Flash and Acrobat plugins, and the errors caused by the plugins (or lack of them).

I had one version of a Flash update that would not be accepted by my old OS, and for a while was absent the use of video. Even today Twinspires shows a popup that says my version is outdated, however once clicking on something to the effect of 'play anyway', it works.
