Samsung Galaxy S3 will charge fine from the house charger, but in the car it charges backwards.

It says it is charging but it goes down instead of up.

For now, I bought a back up battery, so two fully charged batteries will last me for a day.

I can't figure out what is wrong. I've tried four different chargers and new cords.

Any ideas?

Is it possible that the issue is the plug in the car?

Does everything else charge in the car properly?

Usb or 12 volt cigarette?

It was working fine in the car until a couple of days ago and that's using several different cars. Usb or a cigarette plug in doesn't make any difference.

Usually but not always, it says its charging but it doesnt charge. It just goes down instead of up.

You can try this for under six bucks shipped from ebay. I have never bought from this particular company it was the first one to pop up others might be cheaper. The unit I have charges fine in the car, transferring files via usb, and the charger part does the job needing a little more time against the one that was in the box.

It even charges two units in the car my wife and I never have to debate which piece of hardware goes in first.

Do a little investigating. Swap out the cable you use in the car when attempting to charge via USB -- use the known good USB cable from the house. Then see if it charges.
