Claimed Back

I see a lot horse that are claimed and then in the next race or the second back is claimed back the original trainer and pops today. Do you like these kinds of horses? Do you hate them? Why?

One of those type of horses just won the fourth at Aqu paying $13.60

I've never seen stats on it, but it can't be a bad sign because that means the former trainer knows the horse is sound etc...

Would say strength the play being knows the horse and where he is going to put him to get his money back plus two re invest money .I think would be a big deal getting $13.00 on a horse like that is great

Well I find it INSIDOUS when a trainer claims back w/a DIFFERENT owner...some thing SMELLS then...esp...when they pay HIGHER for it...why sell for OTHER owner in 1st place :confused:

The re-claim is one of those old-school angles I first read about in a book written in the '60s or '50s...and one of the old-school angles that when I see it I take a 2nd look at the horse. I have always felt that a re-claim was usually a positive factor, so I just keep it in mind.

Maybe if it's owner/trainer it would be a better bet. Some owners aren't so smart. ;)

I left something out of this angle...And, it is too important to not include it....

When a Trainer RE-CLAIMS a horse for himself, he must have been the Owner/Trainer as well, at that time, before he lost that horse....

It is obvious that the trainer knows that he has an edge with this horse, and is worth having him back again....

Maybe the prior trainer liked the horse in his barn, maybe the horse while not a win machine brought home those constant in the money checks for the barn & the old owner only wanted winner circle pictures.
