Take it (could be wrong) it's the same method outlined in his book "Class Of The Field" can be picked up used on Amazon for $1.55

Btw this is not one of these con type sites where you need to submit card details etc - it is part of the Internet archive.org banner and relies on donations and operates under Controlled Digital Lending. Only takes a sign up of name and email and there is a 5 book limit (last time i checked)

Arazi, Class of the Field contains the Blueboys idea. It is an interesting method for rating races. With today's video availability and a little time each week, I think one could do very well evaluating stakes races each Monday.
And when you come across races you haven't rated, it would be easy to do so in real time one race day. I think this one of the best ideas Quinn has come up with, but it never caught on due ti labor intensity.

I am planning on trying to use it again for this year's 3yo crop. Just started re-reading the book to get ready,

btw, thanks for the link.

Class Of The Field

Brings back memories Tom of a little London bookstore back in the late 80's/early 90's where you could obtain US handicapping books by import through mail order. Have most of Quinn's books but think these two are his most original. Nick Mordin later rehashed US handicapping ideas for a UK betting public and his first book "Betting For A Living" contains a scaled down version of Quinn's "Competitive Quality Scale" Chart used in COTF.

Quinn

Also enjoyed The New Expert Handicappers, particularly the final section where Quinn, Brohamer & Lee Rousso enter "Winning Time" in the winter of 1988 at Santa Anita. Exhilarating stuff almost on a par with Beyer's My $50,000 Year.

I made use of mail order from a UK outfit that to obtain titles published over there. One of them was "Betting For A Living"!

I just read (on Kindle) Dave Nevison's first, "A Bloody Good Winner" - that had a nice Beyer "$50,000 Year At The Races" feel. I enjoy his RacingTV work.

This has been a great thread!
