This is what horse racin' is all about. This one should be a barn burner.
Big enough of a field, small enough of a field to be void of any excuses. Lookin' forward to the past performances, maybe looks like we've got a couple of AP Indy horses goin' in this one . .
Nothin' like this Derby Trail.

Lookin' forward to this one!
Nice article about Mr. Matz and what he thinks of Union Rags . . . http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/68439/matz-feels-union-rags-has-point-to-prov
Seems like a real class guy and I wish him well in the Florida Derby. It is kinda really, really hard and particularly tough for me to say this . . . but I'd like to see Union Rags win this one with El Padrino a fast closing second. I'd like to see Mr. Matz have another day in the sun.I believe Mr. Pletcher is gonna get his with all the good stock people are sending his way, it may be a little bit tougher for Mr. Matz. And of course if Union Rags should win this one, the odds on El Padrino in the third book will be greater than they were in the second .
There are some qualities in the bestest of hoss'es the numbers just can't seem to measure . . . stamina, endurance, courage, tenacity and the will and determination to win. It'll be interesting to see which horse in this race has that kinda' stuff.
Best of racin' luck!
Nothin' like this Derby Trail!

Nice quote by Mr. Pletcher about El Padrino in the Bloodhorse article posted by the Administrator . . .
“Then, he went to Louisiana and showed he had some courage in a dogfight with a nice horse and was able to put his nose down at the wire. It’s nice to know that he’s capable of sitting behind horses and taking some dirt when he’s down inside and that when he gets in a situation that he needs to find more, he can come up with it.”

We'll see if "he can come up with it" this fine Florida Derby Day! FYI, and off course ya' already know, Pletcher has been known to come up big on these kinda days, and from what I can tell by handicappin' the GP card, he is lookin' real tough . . . he is bringin' his A Game today and has his best stock ready to fire. I think a fella' or a gal might beat the races this fine Florida Derby Day day just by bettin' on Mr. Pletcher, even if it appears as if the horse just can't win.
Best of racin' luck!

Back in January i was impressed by Take Charge Indy's comeback, but he hasn't raced in 2 months (Jan 29) and didn't even get back on the worktab for almost a full month (26 Feb)...not good in my opinion.
A 60 day break after your 3yr old debut isn't what i wanna see from a Derby prospect.
That being said, if Calvin would put him on the lead and go as far as he can with him it could be interesting.
Most likely just watching this one as the value simply ain't there imo.

i like EL PADRINO, so i am going to bet TAKE CHARGE LADY because he has upside in this race and a better price than EL PADRINO.
i am not betting much because this isn't my bag.
my focus will be on the 7th race there today, i will post if i learn anything about it.

are the keys - one of them will run second.
Now, which one?
I think the can tun big here.....maybe run away and hide by the top of the stretch?
The and can be flying home late....and maybe the is not up to it today.
Decisions.......time for a hot and a beer while I ponder.
