Unfortunately, age is one thing to which "What goes up must come down" doesn't apply.

As my old Rolling Stone Record Guide told me, David Clayton Thomas was always an acquired taste. The only *real* BST album as far as I am concerned is the little-known first one sans DCT but with Al Kooper (who left after that) titled "Child is Father to the Man". Good album.

Always got a bang out of the album cover.

Glad you brought that up.

Al Kooper, whose claims to fame were the composition 'This Diamond Ring' --- a hit for Joey Levitch's boy --- and membership in the wonderful group Blues Project, had to go for BS&T to succeed. Sad but true.

After that, he did arguably his best work on 'Super Session'(*). Side A had him paired with Stephen Stills, whereas Side B featured him with The Great One, Mike Bloomfield Himself.

As to David C. Thomas --- after hearing one song, I colored him acquired.

(*) I found this album in bargain bins at least twice in the last twenty years. Kicking myself for not buying it.

That's Al Kooper playing the Hammond organ on Bob Dylan's "Like A Rollling Stone".

Clayton-Thomas was my hero when I was in high school. I have a vinyl album recorded in 1964 in Toronto with a great "Toronto Sound" band called the Shays. He had some local Top 40 stuff in the middle/late 60's. One tune, called Brainwashed, actually had the word Damn beeped out of it 'cause it was 'Toronto the Good' at that time.
I was never a big fan of BS&T except the first album without DCT. The opening few bars of I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know still knock me out.
