Martin Garcia came from nowhere and lately has been riding great. He is Bob Bafferts main rider right now. Martin Garcia is right now one of the best riders in the country.

what a selfish ride in the Santa Margarita...
-and worst of all he was rewarded with finishing 2nd.

is Garcia capable of slowing a pace down?

While gunning to the front doesn't do it at SA, others had slowed down the pace quite a bit in a lot of races there and still lost. Other than in maiden races, the percentage of winning front runners has been very low on that surface.

Go back and watch the Santa M. video (March 13). That was a rank horse he tried to throttle back early but could not, so he just let her run. If he strangled her back much longer, she would have got something like 6th instead of 2nd.

Otherwise, yeah, he's got a way to go but he's come a long way fast, has a good work ethic and doesn't have a swelled head. Doesn't sound like a jockey right there. He really sits light on a horse - he's not big for a jock so where's the effect of all that dead lead weight that he then has to carry? Currently I think he's largely pwned by Baffert so he can't ride against Baffert's horses. That Bobblehead Bob trusts him with major horses is saying something.

M Garcia riding a little "Soft" these days. Took a little bump in the finale at DMR and just stopped riding.

A few years ago, would have said Dominguez, then Bejarano, but now it's Joel Rosario. The guys as good as anybody.
Johnny V. isn't exactly over the hill. I would at least put him in the top 10.
