Good Job HANA

According to an email I received from Pinnacle Race Course, they lowered the take-out on exotics in response to your latest race track ranking.

I've been out of the loop a bit lately, but I read about it on this blog:

http://mibredclaimer.wordpress.com/2...otic-takeouts/

That's a nice bit of work by Pinnacle!

Maybe you guys can reciprocate and mention it on your blog.

I will also mention it to Joe (the guy who runs that blog) that you saw it. He will be glad to know people outside of Michigan are reading it.

I'm kind of perplexed about this deal though. On one hand, the track lowers take-out in response to your ranking. On the other hand, I've had a track official recently tell me that lowering take-out has no effect and they don't plan on advertising it.

On a side note, of the three or four tracks in South East Michigan, Pinnacle albeit the smallest. has the nicest facility for playing the races. The building may be small and they are still relatively new, but I travel past two other tracks just to go to Pinnacle because of their plant. The customer service, infrastructure, and staff far exceed any other options in this area.

this really is a pretty big deal!

it's remarkable, remembering back to those first threads about forming a group, and then the Los Al thing, and then looking at where HANA is now.
truly just a great success story.

That's a pretty self-serving quote from the "track officials" perspective. Most of them wouldn't know because they've never tried it. Why don't you query the same track official as to the long-term viability of the horseracing industry as it currently exists?

It was just one person. And, that person, in my opinion, has a one track mind when it comes to expanding or increasing handle. Slots, slots, slots is the only thing that will work in his/her opinion. I've asked about various other ways to expand handle; increased ADW awareness, OTB's, lowered take-out, HD broadcasting, etc. The only thing that works, in this person's mind is slots.
