I'm assuming if there's a late scratch, you get the post time favorite?
Anyone know for SURE what the pick 5 rules are?

I think you get the favorite but I can't find the rules anywhere.
It's a great bet at 15% takeout and a carryover.

No consos if 5 of 5 hit.
If no one hits, 5 of 5, next best gets 25% of post-takeout pool.

If yesterday is any indication, I'd have problems with a Pick 1. 
New meets are tough, especially when it attracts horses from different circuits. But all you need is one exotic hit because of the field size at Monmouth to get out for the day.

California has always said there would be no carryovers if they lowered the cost of their carryover bets.
First day carryover on Monmouth pick 5 sort of puts a pin in that balloon.

It's pretty tough to have carryovers when the field size avg is 6.7 and the minimum is $1

If California would go to this type of betting and Kentucky style of bets, change the track, things would improve.

It hasn't done much for Kentucky.

800K bet at 15% takeout with 123K c/o = no takeout
When a bet has 0 takeout or a positive expectation with a rebate, the pools will be much bigger than any of these track executive dolts would ever imagine.
