Trevor finally Jumps The Shark

The horses were entering the Starting Gate for the First Race of the Pick
Six on Saturday. As the last few horses were loading .. he breathlessly
announced " The Pick Six pool is now OVER A MILLION .."
Then .. during the race .. He told us this :
" The horse is really a handful -- pulling THE BOY almost out of the
saddle .." THE BOY ?

In years past (way past) riders were referred to as boys, as in "there is a change of boys on the #7".

Wow! You guys are a tough crowd. Is that all he did?

All this attention to announcers is starting to get to me. I was watching the 8th at Fairgrounds yesterday and a horse named "Deep Canyon" split horses to win in the last 100 yrds. I immediately scolded the announcer in my mind. I thought he should have said

"Deep Canyon carves his way through for the win"

This place will make you crazy!!!

I am aware of that fact Back in the day .. the local scratch sheet or even the DRF - would have " NO Boy " listed as the rider. It was obviously telling us that a Jockey has not been named.

I wont republish my comment about Brother Denman. Actually I should really
try to do better when it comes to being critical of the Race Caller. I will
make that.. my New Year's Resolution.
It is all gonna be FINE in Oh Nine. .. When I shall return.
