Big Green Egg, I've been on another web site, where guys swear by these ceramic grills. They go for $1299, up to 1899. Best for smoking, but they grill also. Lowes used to carry them.
I regret not keeping my dad's Weber when he passed away, since I'd used it many times when visiting. He bought it, and designated me the cook, whenever there was a cookout for the family.
I've always wanted to make a Walter Mondale grille, where you cut a barrel in half, and mount a grill inside. I saw a video years ago, where he was using the one he'd made. They make something like that and sell it at Lowes also.

I have a Traeger, its more or less fool proof and very good at what it does. I have never had a problem in 6 years with it. It will run out of pellets, depending on the tempature after 5+ hours but that is the indian and not the arrow.
It has limitations though, it does not impart a ton of smoke flavor (does impart lots of smoke though) and it cannot get to high in temp so not useful for grilling.
If I am I am using propane I dont care to much about the quality as most do a good job of getting up in temp and grilling food.
If I am using charcoal for grilling and/or smoking I would get the Weber kettle or a Masterbuilt gravity, or a PK.
If I am smoking only then we are talking about a lot of options. Easy pellet grill, sophisticated then an offset smoker.
