Gotham S.

Gotham S.
1 Mile | Open | 3 Year Olds | G3 STAKES | PURSE: $300,000

Mostly Sunny Precip: 3% High: 45°F | Low: 31°F

Should be a fast track

1 ML 10-1 Dial Operator
2 ML 30-1 Cove Blue
3 ML 8-1 Beautiful Shot
4 ML 15-1 Whereshetoldmetogo
5 ML 5-2 Firenze Fire
6 ML 9-5 Free Drop Billy
7 ML 15-1 Old Time Revival
8 ML 30-1 Nine Route
9 ML 7-2 Enticed

Semi-interesting race. Free Drop exits that super fast Holy Bull won by Audible in 1:41.4. What did the Fountain of Youth go in-1:44 and change or thereabouts.
Romans other horse, Cove Blue, a rabbit for Free Drop Billy? Free Drop Billy crushed Enticed in the Holy Bull. Cove Blue has speed which gives him a shot. Firenze Fire on the turn back in distance. Unbeaten Dial Operator gets the class test. Only horses to finish in front of Beautiful Shot are Mourinho and Grevitos-both stakes winners. Old Time Revival ran a bang up 2nd in the Miracle Wood@LRL at todays distance. Going w/Enticed; cashed a few tickets on his dam back in the day and she won stakes races at AQU. Hopefully her son likes AQU as well.

Who do you like?

Too tough for me. look like strong favorites, but I don't love any of them.

As a fan, I'm rooting for the to run a good race.

Cove Blue is probably a sprinter. On a weird pedigree note, his dam is a half sister to Bolt d'Oro's dam.

I remember the old days with the Swift, Bay Shore, Gotham, Wood as the TC prep series, the Gotham at one turn.

Not sure nowadays how a flat mile helps get a horse ready for 9 furlongs. Use to have a lot more races under their belts than they do now.

We shall see.

Looks like a good race in itself, not having any delusions that anything will come of it and head to Derby.

I'm rooting for Free Drop Billy - because he will be one of my meal tickets in the Derby if he gets there.

I have rooting interest in Firenze Fire in the form of a 50-1 futures ticket so I may be a bit biased here but this race being a 1 turn mile with an anticipated hot pace to run into bodes well for him. My prediction is a chalky exacta with Free Drop Billy. However, should his shipping mishaps shake him up I could see the or getting home underneath at a price.

Enticed had better take a step forward here.

I think has a good shot cutting back to a a mile after going crazy fast last time out.

5 horses have 6 or more QSP in this one. SHould be crowded up front.

While I liked the winner man I am just not sold on either the Gotham and Tampa Bay Derby.

At least Enticed show talent as a two year old with a real pedigree but he just got crushed in his last race and wins now off a pretty sweat setup. It was a legit pace I think so there is that going for him.

Good one.

I tossed the 7 because it was pouring rain at LRL, and kind of a bunched finish.
Those 1Mile races at LRL are interesting, because usually they use the 2nd finish line, which makes for a long drive and stretch run.
