Picks for Saratoga Saturday:
R1 #3 Prime Queen-Probable low priced favorite here. But in the off going I really like her. Has plenty of pace to close on, and the connections/breeding says she should be the one to beat here.
R2 #3 Scipion-Connections/breeding make this one the pick here. Low prices in the first two means a cold DD is the way I’m going.
R3 #7 Breakaway-I anticipate an honest pace here. This one ran well enough in the slop last year at CD to make me think he can handle the off going. Last one can be excused, he had no chance to close on a soft pace.
R4 Pass
R5 #5 Flagstaff-Ran very well in the mud last time when troubled. Trainer does very well with 2nd out runners.
R6 #7 Sovereign Sweep-Returns to better distance for second try at this level. Has a win on this oval and his offtrack breeding is OK. Price will be good.
R7 #1 Clock Stopper-ML fav has to come back to earth sometime. Both runs in graded stakes company were good ones. Has run well on this oval also.
R8 Pass
R9 #4 Keesler-Looks to be odds-on, so I’ll probably watch this one.
R10 #7 Kirby Mac-Was my longshot pick before, and I like him again. Gets another speed laden field to close on. Hopefully the drop in class will do the trick.
