You know, hindsight and everything. But my god I'm killing myself for not picking Cool Rock in race 4. He definitely changed his style the race before, McNair driving. Fillion choosing off really threw me. As soon as he made the lead I hung my head.

Yup. In both harness racing AND thoroughbred racing, I give a lot of weight when a horse does something in his previous race that never did before.

It drives me crazy when friends ignore great opportunities because they focus on the big picture ("How could you play that horse. He hadn't won in a year and a half.") instead of what have you done for me lately. I find ohfers with a change in form in their previous race to be some of the best longshot opportunities.

Something that becomes even more important this time of year. As we enter October, I find this to be "form change season." Tread lightly on horses that were three classes higher in July, and look more closely at those who just beat form in their last start.
