Call it what you will...but the 3 in 1 doesn't violate the law of non-contradiction. There is one divine essence in three distinct persons. God, then, is absolutely three and absolutely one. This is how Jesus could say, for example, "I and the Father are one." They are not the one and same person but they are one in their essence.

Any idea of what Jesus meant...when he told his disciples that they were capable of more than even HE had accomplished?

If there is only "one God"...then, who are these "other Gods" that our "jealous God" is warning us not to follow, in the Old Testament?

The "gods" of people's vain and sinful imaginations.

Maybe I'll come up with something tomorrow.

Many orthodox people speak as though it were the business of sceptics to disprove received dogmas rather than of dogmatists to prove them. This is, of course, a mistake. If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time.

That Bertrand Russell sure knew his potatoes.

Yeah, he did. His specialty was cooking up rotten ones.

Bertrand Russell was a brilliant man, particularly in Mathematics when he was young.
His autobiography is a truly wonderful read wherein he confesses to various weaknesses and lusts in his flirtations with the opposite sex.
Having said that, I had a close friend years ago who was quite scholarly.
He found 14 errors in just one chapter of Russell's book The History of Philosophy. As that friend went on he found many more errors.
So while Russell was indeed very bright, there were some areas of his scholarship that were lacking.
Why didn't he stick to Mathematics?
As I recall he confessed to "burning out" in that area before he was 30.

Were they really errors of just differences of opinion?

Quite common. Newton published Principles of Mathematics before he was 30. He went on to study alchemy and theology. Einstein published his Special Theory of Relativity at age 26 and the General Theory 10 years later. After that he contributed little to physics.

By the way, based on his Biblical studies Newton predicted the end of the world in 2060.

To be honest, I can't be certain as my friend is long dead.
I am of the opinion that he was referring to actual errors - dates, places, names, concepts etc.

Malthus said similar when he predicted "Standing Room Only" somewhere close to that date.
