Anyone near the Youngstown area should be happy to hear that Mahoning Valley Race Course will soon be announcing a FREE Handicapping Tournament for Gulfstream Park races on Sunday February 19th. Total of $600 in prize money will divided among the top 3 places, $300/$200/$100. Further details when available.

Didn't see it posted in the rules, but I am assuming that all race selections must be made prior to the first post. Correct?

Also, I see a W-9 is being generated for the winners. So the winnings are being reported to the IRS and will be taxable?

Doesn't seem worth it, but somewhat glad to see MVR doing something for the race fan. They owe their existence to us, yet comps are pretty much non-existent.

I will say I am still baffled by their promo last Saturday. Make a wager and random voucher pops up for a free race program. Shouldn't you have the race program first, and then go make a bet? At least anyone not just betting numbers would want it that way.

Yes, all picks in before 1st post time. Most "free" contests are subject to IRS notifications. Thanks for noticing. My fault for not proof reading rules before final printing.
